Masters of Science in Engineering Management (MSEM)

The SMU Lyle School of Engineering’s Masters of Science in Engineering Management degree is a 30-hour program developed for individuals with an undergraduate engineering or technical degree who are—or will be—rising through management or starting their own company. The program is designed to impart essential knowledge for today’s and tomorrow’s technology-driven world.

“Engineering Management is the art and science of planning, organizing, allocating resources, and directing and controlling activities which have a technological component. Engineering managers are distinguished from other managers by the fact that they posses both an ability to apply engineering principles and a skill in organizing and directing technical projects and people in technical jobs.” (ASEM)

SMU’s MSEM program develops this expertise through core courses in management, finance, economic analysis, production, and accounting, complimented by pace-setting, innovative electives in information engineering, global perspectives, and entrepreneurship. This well-rounded approach prepares individuals for success in a technology-based world and its challenges and opportunities.
