Example: Planning a MS in Systems Engineering + MS in Information Engineering and Management
MSSE has five core courses with additional requirements depending on option selected. The MSIEM has seven required core courses and three electives. Pursuing the two degrees separately, ignoring double-counting
opportunities, requires 20 total courses (60 semester credit hours).
By selecting Information Engineering for the MSSE Group I field and using a MSSE core course as a MSIEM elective, only 16 courses (48 semester credit hours) are required to receive both degrees. Either degree can be
completed first, and there are many alternative variations of this combined degree plan.
