DECISION-SUPPORT SYSTEMS

Catalog Description

This course covers the development and implementation of a data-centric, decision-support system (DSS), the underlying technologies, and current applications and trends. Topics include: decision-making, DSS components, optimization models, expert systems, data mining and visualization, knowledge discovery and management, and executive information systems.

1.Develop the student’s understanding of decision-making theory (decision styles, decision effectiveness, cognitive processes, and organizational culture) and methods
2.Survey key decision technologies, including optimization models, expert systems, data mining, data visualization, and knowledge discovery
3.Explore specific application areas, technologies, and trends by means of case studies and hands-on use of operational decision-support systems and software applications
